Miles Mochizuki

Miles is a CPA with more than 25 years of experience in taxes, accounting and business management.  His specialty is small business and emerging growth companies.  After serving his country in the military, Miles joined the international accounting firm of KPMG, where he performed accounting, tax and consulting work for clients in insurance, real estate, construction, manufacturing and other industries. While with KPMG, Miles was part of a select group of candidates to pass all four parts of the national CPA exam on their first attempt. 

Miles left KPMG to start his own accounting and consulting firm.  Later, he was appointed as Finance Director of Pacific Telesis Group, a Fortune 500 company and the parent company of Pacific Bell and Nevada Bell.  Miles also served as the Chief Financial Officer of start-up technology companies Innopath Software, Logilent Learning Systems, and MobileForce Technologies, and was an advisor and consultant to several other venture-backed technology companies in Silicon Valley.  In addition to his experience in tax and financial planning, Miles has completed financing ranging from bank and lease credit lines to venture capital and debt and equity offerings.  He has set up accounting systems from scratch and has also managed IT and HR.  His wealth of experience in a variety of areas plus his tax and accounting expertise have made Miles a valued advisor to his small business clients. 

Miles is a long-time resident of the San Francisco Bay Area. He received his bachelor and master degrees in accounting and finance from the University of Hawaii, where he was on the Dean’s List.  He also completed post-graduate studies in international business at the Institute for International Studies and Training (IIST) in Tokyo, Japan.  After living in the City of San Francisco, he and his wife moved to San Ramon in the 1980s.  Their 3 children graduated from local public schools and went on to attend UCLA, UC-Santa Cruz, and UC-Berkeley.  Miles is active in his community and serves as the Treasurer and member of the Board of Directors of the Volunteer Center of the East Bay, serving Contra Costa, Alameda and Solano Counties.
